Paige Bueckers is one of the top female basketball players in college basketball. Women’s basketball is currently hotter than it has ever been. Bueckers is one of the major reasons why the sport is currently flourishing.
On The Court
Paige Bueckers has just completed her senior season as a member of the Huskies Women’s Basketball team. Sadly, her career has been impacted by injuries. But her 2023/2024 season was a comeback season for the star, and her best yet. Despite playing four seasons at Connecticut, the guard will be able to return for a fifth season at the school. This is due to an exception that was added due to the 2020 Covid epidemic.
Freshman Sensation
When Bueckers was healthy, during her Freshman season for UConn, she was an unstoppable force. Her first season as a Husky, she was honored as the Associated Press Player of the Year, Big East Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. She led her team to the Final Four and averaged 20 points a game and almost 6 assists.

Bueckers’s spectacular Freshman season has made her a regular on ESPN and the focus of numerous YouTube highlight mixtapes. Her performance, personality and swager has made her a superstar. In 2021, the NCAA made a revolutionary decision to allow collegiate athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness. This is also known as the “NIL” rule. It has long been a topic for debate, should college players earn compensation for playing collegiate sports? While players won’t be paid for their play, they now have the chance to earn money off the court with the NIL rule. Paige Bueckers was one of the first amateur athletes to benefit from this new practice. Gatorade signed her to an endorsement deal that makes Bueckers the first college athlete to ever sign with the legendary brand. She joins icons like Serena Williams and Michael Jordan as endorsers for the sports themed drink maker. The collaboration also makes sense since Bueckers was named Gatorade Player of the Year while she was in high school.
Future
Her 2023/2024 season was a special one for Bueckers. She returned to being one of the top players in the country. She led her squad to the Final Four but would sadly lose to Caitlin Clark and Iowa. Bueckers has a chance to be the number one pick in the WNBA Draft when she is expected to enter in 2025.
