French Star
Gobert was born on June 26, 1992. He is from Saint-Quentin, France.
His father was a French international basketball player. Rudy Gobert started playing basketball at 11 and he made his professional debut at just 19 years old. His performance in the French Pro League would eventually catch the attention of the NBA.
NBA
He would be selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 27 pick in 2023. On that same night, he would be traded to the Utah Jazz. Gobert would quickly become a defensive anchor for the Utah team. He would play for the Jazz for 9 seasons and win 3 Defensive Player of the Year awards.
Minnesota
His long and successful career in Utah would eventually end. Gobert would be traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2022. He has helped the Wolves become contenders in the West with his leadership and inside presence on both ends of the court.
International
Gobert has never refused contributing to the French National Basketball Team, despite his commitments to the NBA. He helped the team win a bronze medal at the 2014 FIBA World Cup and the EuroBasket 2015. Gobert also assisted with them winning the bronze at the 2019 FIBA World Cup. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gobert was a major reason why the team brought home the silver medal.
