Nike is taking two legends and bringing them together for a special pairing. The Nike Air Force 1 Low Kobe Bryant honors the legacy of Bryant and the Air Force 1. The Nike Air Force 1 Low Kobe Bryant releases in select Shoe Palace stores on December 6.

Kobe

This Nike Air Force 1 is inspired by Kobe. The White/Varsity Maize/Varsity Purple colorway is obviously honoring the Los Angles Lakers team colors. The soles and Swooshes are yellow.

There are subtle hints of purple throughout. The Kobe Sheath logo is on the heel. This iteration of the Air Force 1 Low is a must for Kobe and Nike fans.

The perfect sneaker. The perfect sneaker must be timeless and must never go out of style. The Nike Air Force 1, especially in white, is considered by many to be the perfect sneaker.

Making An Icon

The Nike Air Force 1 was designed by Bruce Kilgore. It was Kilgore’s first attempt at designing a basketball shoe. The now iconic Air Force 1 debuted on shelves in 1982. Nike Air Force 1 was named after the Air Force One plane that the President of the United States travels in.

Made For Hoops

The Air Force 1 was the first basketball shoe to utilize Nike Air technology. It pioneered a soft, springy, and cushioned fit for the game of basketball. NBA players during the early 80s era wore the Nike Air Force 1 and helped to raise its profile. Basketball stars like Moses Malone, Bobby Jones and Jammal Wilkes wore the shoes on the court.

No Overnight Success

The Air Force 1 was not an instant hit or an overnight success. Only two years after their original release, Nike wanted to discontinue the shoe. When word that the Air Force 1 was being discontinued, fans started buying up every pair they could find. This was especially true on the east coast, where the Nike Air Force 1 became a must own sneaker.

The Legacy Of Kobe x Nike

The Kobe series for Nike has become a legendary signature line. The NBA players of today have helped to make them one of the most worn sneakers on the court. Superstars like Devin Booker, DeMar DeRozan and many more have been religiously

wearing Kobe sneakers for years now. The Kobe 6 seems to be the Kobe that resonates the most with NBA players and the sneaker loving public.

When Kobe Bryant passed away more than 2 years ago now, it was a blow to the millions of Kobe Bryant fans. It was a tragic loss of an icon who was only 41 years old when he was murdered in a helicopter crash.

Bryant was not the only life lost in the tragedy. 9 lives total were taken in the crash. Including Kobe’s daughter, Gianna.
