High School Phenom
Green was born on February 9, 2002. He is from Merced, California. Jalen Green attended San Joaquin Memorial High School. He was a standout for the school and was ranked as one of the best players in the nation.
Asian American
After high school, Green decided to join the G-League rather than play college basketball. The G-League is the NBA’s official minor league system, and the players are actually paid for competing.
He would then enter the 2021 NBA Draft. The Houston Rockets would select Green with the second pick in the draft. Green would make history as the NBA’s highest drafted Asian American player in history.
Green is of Filipino descent. He is only the third athlete to make the NBA who is Filipino.
Pro Career
The guard’s athleticism and explosiveness were on full display from the start of his career for the Houston Rockets. Green would make the All-Rookie 1st Team in 2022.
The young guard had his best season in the league in 2023-2024. Green averaged 19.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists for the Rockets. The team showed considerable growth with his improved play.
