The History Of The Nike KD 8

By the time the KD 8 was released, Kevin Durant’s signature line of sneakers was considered one of the all-time great signature lines. Learn about the KD 8 below.

KD 8

Durant’s eighth shoe was light and had advanced cushioning. The light and flexible support was a perfect match for KD’s explosive game. The FLyWeave upper is what gave the shoe its top of the line elasticity and strength. There is a full-length Zoom Air unit. Leo Chang designed the KD 8. The shoes were released in 2015. Popular colorways included the “PB&J” and “What The.” Durant would wear the 8 during his final season as a member of the Oklahoma Thunder.

Warrior

In 2016, Durant made the biggest decision of his career. When KD decided to join the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2016 the sports world went mad. Many were excited to see the all-star join the powerhouse team. Many others were critical of the decision. The Warriors already won a title before KD joined, and the Golden State squad that he joined, just eliminated KD and his OKC team from the playoffs just a few months prior.

Despite the criticism, KD’s time in Golden State was stellar. He would lead the Golden State Warriors to back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018. He also won Finals MVP in both Championship runs. KD only spent three seasons in Golden State, but those three seasons are arguably the best of his career.

Moving On

KD would next join the Brooklyn Nets. Despite having a strong roster around him, KD was not able to achieve playoff success with Brooklyn. He would play for Brooklyn from 2019-2023. In 2023, KD would be traded to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns have been close to winning a championship the last few seasons. It is believed by many in the basketball world that Durant is the missing piece for the Suns. Can KD lead the Phoenix Suns to a championship and earn himself a third ring?
