Deion Sanders has had a renaissance of late in terms of popularity and cultural relevancy. Sanders has had a long and storied history with Nike. Learn about Deion’s signature sneaker series with Nike, the Nike Air Diamond Turf, by reading the guide below.
Air Diamond Turf
The Nike Air Diamond Turf was the ideal sneaker for Deion’s career in both football and baseball. The sneaker launched in 1993. It has a mid-cut design with a distinctive midfoot strap for stability and support. The Air cushioning technology was a major asset to Deion and his unbelievable speed.
Nike Air Diamond Turf 2
The Nike Air Diamond Turf 2 debuted in 1994. It is an incredibly similar looking model to the Turf 1. When the 2 debuted, Sanders was playing for the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Reds. Rounded lines, a midfoot strap help define the look of the silhouette.
Nike Air DT Max 96
The Nike Air DT Max 96 was famously worn by Sanders. It was a beloved sneaker when it debuted largely because of its white synthetic leather base that accompanies black nubuck panels. The rippled like design that was created allowed the shoes to stand out.
Nike Air Diamond Turf 4
The Air Diamond Turf 4 came out in 1997. The 4 featured a more “futuristic design” than the previous models. It is a high cut sneaker and had an extended collar for added support. The upper has synthetic leather and mesh for durability.
Nike Air Diamond Turf 5
In 1998, Nike released the final model of the Deion line. The 5 was once again equipped with innovations. There was a lower cut design for the 5, lower than other Deion shoes. The 5 has a Phylon midsole with an encapsulated Air unit. It is a lightweight silhouette.
Nike Air Diamond Turf 6
Since it was released nearly 20 years after the 5, the 6 was an advanced model in the line when it came to technology. Deion Sanders was no longer with Nike when the Air Diamond Turf 6 launched. The shoe had a lightweight mesh fabric and flexibility on the upper.
